DESK PLAN FOR BOOK TALK
The story Frindle was written by Andrew Clement and is one of my daughter's favorite books. I chose this book because I love words and I am fascinated by the creation of language and the use of words to describe things in such wonderful ways.
Brief summary of book:
Nicholas is a student who likes to waste time and distract his teacher. One of his greatest time wasting schemes gets out of hand and has such a large impact on the community and the world that no one could have known the difference one person could make.
Read paragraph of book:
Beginning from the section where Nicholas has written a lengthy report to the end of the chapter.
FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS:
1. What type of book does the teacher have in her room that she adores?
2. How does Nicholas waste time?
3. Do you think it would be possible to have a word added to the dictionary? why or why not?
